Recently, during its I/O event, Google has taken many big decisions regarding AI in Google Search. These decisions have been taken regarding Google Search Experience where many major changes have been made regarding AI content on the Google search page.

Earlier Google was showing new generative AI capabilities in Search as a result of its AI Lab Experiment as SGE (Search Generative Experience).

But now Google has decided to take it to another level making it live for everyone named AI Overview in search results on Google Search Page.

Although Google may claim that AI Overview is going to completely change the search experience, it still needs a lot of development. Also, many users are finding it very annoying to searching anything on Google.

And this is why many users want to turn off the AI Overview in their search result page. And guess here I am sharing my method to turn off Google AI Overview in the Search Result Page.

What is Google AI Overview?

AI Overviews appear in Google Search results when someone searches for anything that Google finds generative responses can be beneficial.

Turn off AI Overviews

  • On your computer, open Chrome Chrome.
  • Make sure you’re signed in to your Google Account with Incognito mode turned off.
  • At the top of the browser, click the New tab.
  • At the top of the page, click Labs and then Manage.
  • Toggle off Toggle off or on Turn on “AI Overviews and more.”

Method to Avoid AI Overviews

Since AI Overviews and more on the Google Search Result page is a part of Google Search similar to what other features Google offers on its search page.

So you can’t run AI Overviews and you don’t have any choice. But still, there is a method to avoid AI Overviews in Google Search Result Page.

Fortunately with AI Overviews Google has released a special filter called “Web” through which you can access to the traditional Google Search Result page without any AI Summaries or Overviews.

This “Web” filter removes a range of elements from the search page including the knowledge panel, featured snippets, shopping, and other modules, and yes AI Overviews too.

The feature should already be available to all desktop users in the US, but Google hasn’t announced whether it’s also going to be launched on mobile.
